Two couples were surprised this Chinese Valentines Day.

Chinese Valentines Day, also known as the "Qixi Festival', originated from a Chinese mythological tale about a love story between two young lovers. To celebrate this special day we invited two couples on a romantic date on Sydney's highest outdoor adventure - the SKYWALK, 268m above the city.

The special guests for the occasion included Grace Yu (宇涵月) 21 and Leo Liao (廖迦雷) 22 from China, and Chloe Li (李情) 21 from Hong Kong with Darcy Donoghue 21, from Australia. However unbeknownst to the group their SKYWALK would have an added surprise.

The romantic adventure was led by experienced SKYWALK guide, Kelly Lin (Ya-Hsuan Lin林亞暄) ,  who entertained the group with fun facts about the city, and pointing out the various landmarks that could be seen across the spectacular city skyline.

As the sun slowly set in the horizon, the couples admired the sights of the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge from the glass platform, not expecting the special surprise awaiting them. Out of the blue, Chinese musician Deyu Jiang (姜德钰) made an appearance, bringing her traditional Chinese flute (dizi) with her, and played a traditional love song: “The Moon Represents My Heart” (月亮代表我的心).

As if the moment wasn’t romantic enough, another SKYWALK guide presented each of the couples with a single long-stemmed red rose, which is a popularly known international symbol of love, as well as an important colour of luck in Chinese culture.

Chloe Li (李情) exclaimed, “I am still in shock about the whole experience! Who would have thought that I could have celebrated love with my partner, surrounded by the stunning skyline views of Sydney while listening to a mesmerising melody of a dizi! It is a memory I will never forget.”

SKYWALK guide Kelly Lin (Ya-Hsuan Lin林亞暄) shared, “We are thrilled to be able to bring this wonderful experience to more guests, not only from China but also those based in the local area, as we recognize the importance of the international day, such as Qixi Festival.”

Although Chinese Valentines Day is only once a year, doesn't mean you can't plan a surprise of your own for your loved one. For love has no date, it is infinite.
